Jennie Townsend on Instagram: "As #nationalepilepsyawarenessmonth draws to a close, we wanted to share Frankie’s journey with epilepsy and maybe bring some hope to a young person or young athlete diagnosed with epilepsy, and show that your dreams do not have to end.
Frankie was incredibly ill in her first year of diagnosis. We had 9 emergency admissions, and she managed only 42% attendance at school whilst doctors worked to find a combination of medications that would control her dangerous 10 minute long tonic clonic seizures and sleep seizures. In April of this year we tried the last medication available and to our joy, it worked. A combination of Lamotrigine and Keppra gave Frankie her life back. She still lives with daily absences and sleep seizure cycles, but with time and adaptations we have found a way that she can live life to the fullest. She has competed with her horses all year and even holds 2 National championship titles within @rdauk, so life has certainly not stopped with epilepsy. Yes, she needs more support, more adjustments and our week is carefully planned around how she feels, but we have found our way.
Our DMs are always open to anyone struggling or needing to talk.

Jennie Townsend on Instagram: "For my baby girl. The bravest soul I know.
We are back in hospital after a horrifying end to our @equissagepulse Para dressage championships at Hartpury. Frankie had the most beautiful day, surrounded by her friends, coaches and family, riding Callie with such maturity and poise and coming away with a well deserved 3rd place finish in her group. She had the most incredible day and was so settled and well. But as we journeyed home with full, happy hearts, she suffered another huge seizure on the motorway and stopped breathing despite her emergency medication. We were so hopeful we had these seizures under control as we’d managed to go 5 weeks without a hospital admission😞 We had 2 ambulances and highway maintenance attend on the M4 to keep us safe on the hard shoulder, whilst Frankie was stabilised and transferred - I think it’s the most frightened I have ever felt for my little one. And now It’s 1.30am and I’m watching her in a deep slumber, hooked up to machines, putting this reel together as my way of holding on to what was beautiful in this day. My brave girl. One day I hope we will see the beauty in this beast. 🤍 Mummy will never stop fighting to give you the life you deserve.

Jennie Townsend on Instagram: "Today was a big day for Frankie. For the 3 years she has been learning dressage under @alicesummersbee and RDA, she has refused any adapted tack, but she very bravely came to her own decision last week and asked to try a set of @alice_reins - these are specially adapted reins with set loops to assist riders like Frankie who have conditions that cause excessive pain and weakness. They give a much improved grip and stop the reins being pulled out of the riders hands. Frankie never complains, but riding her dream horse has come with a few challenges and her little hands and shoulders have been really suffering, so we really hope that @alice_reins might be the solution, to reduce the frequent dislocations and weakness associated with her Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. We thankfully had excellent advice from Frankie’s coach last year and already have BD Para Dispensation (adjustments given based on Frankie’s medical reports) to use rein loops, magnetic stirrups and voice commands, so we hope this will give her the support she needs. She worked incredibly hard tonight, learning how to use the rein loops, knowing how to slip them for free walk and find them again and adjusting her salute to keep both hands on the reins. It’s a big thing choosing to use tack that draws attention to your challenges, so this had to be Frankie’s decision and we are all really proud of how she handles herself at the tender age of 11. Thank you so much to our wonderful @aim_rda for loaning us the reins to try and to Jacqui at @alice_reins for being so helpful.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask. And if you use Alice reins, let us know!

Jennie Townsend on Instagram: "Where do I start about today?! WOW!! 🎉
Their first try at British Showjumping and their very first try at a 90cm class and they flipping won! 🥇Not only that, they won both their 80cm classes too 🥹 and had a hilarious stop in the 70cm for a 2nd! 🥈
We gave Aurora the chance to do something a bit meatier and she absolutely loved every second. I am so, so proud of them both, not least because so many people (including the commentator) commented on how beautifully they worked together and what a fabulous team they are.
It will take a few days to come down from this cloud - a total dream come true and for it to happen on a pony she has produced all by herself is just the icing on the cake ❤️
.
A huge thank you to our sponsors @equinexceed for their incredible support and for keeping every one of our horses in optimum health. Aurora has gastro step 2, soft tissue support and right now we are using the k&l D-Tox.
And another big thank you to sister Maddie @eventing.the.divas and our friend Ruth @equestrian_ruth for being the most incredible support - it means the world.

Jennie Townsend on Instagram: "Thank you @racesafeeq for welcoming Frankie to your team! She is so excited to Event next year in her Racesafe Motion3, personalised Event shirt and Motion Air body protector cover. We are truly so grateful for the support as we step into @britisheventing next year!
Until 2nd December ALL proceeds from sales at @racesafeeq will be donated to the #cycle4caroline charity cycle ride. Caroline March was a successful International Equestrian who suffered a fall whilst eventing in 2022, leaving her paralysed. She sadly passed away in March this year. @cycle4caroline24 will support two charities that were close to Caroline’s heart - the @besupporttrust and @spinalresearch
So forget Black Friday this year and buy from a company that is truly giving back! #racesafe #racesafebodyprotector #racesafeequestrian #sponsoredrider #ad"
