This is a free service for families in my community experiencing pregnancy or infant loss in a hospital setting or home birth. Please contact me at 250-919-2289 (no texts please). My role as a Ceremony & Ritual Practice Guide is to educate, empower and be of service to families to exercise their innate right to care for their own baby in the minutes, hours and days after death. Guidance includes: Consultation sessions. I am available to visit you at home or in the hospital & take the time you need to explore the options open to you. I am available to be on call. Planning rituals or ceremonies before a medical procedure. Guiding naming ceremonies, family unity rituals, and many other grief & remembrance rituals. Guiding Bathing/purification rituals including anointing, dressing and/or shrouding. Guiding rituals & ceremony to prepare you to release your baby to the hospital staff or funeral home.

As a certified Infant & Pregnancy Loss Doula, I serve families in a supportive professional companioning role from before delivery, during the liminal time before a medical procedure, and in the hours & days following a loss. I facilitate creating plans, assist with grief support, and can aid the family in the process of memory making. An Infant & Pregnancy Loss Doula can be seen as a key support for helping the family say hello to their baby; and then goodbye. I see the family as a whole, and not only attend to the birthing parent’s physical, emotional, mental and spiritual distress; but also, the needs of the partner and extended family. Bereaved families can also be supported as they navigate the tasks of making funeral arrangements for their baby. I can act as a Vigil Keeper during a public or private viewing, at the funeral home or home viewing.

Each life is precious, no matter how soon it ends. Together, we can create an end of life ceremony; or Remembrance ritual where it is possible for you to share all the ways in which your baby was an individual; the effect your child has had in your lives, changing those around you forever in just a short space of time. By carefully listening to your feelings and wishes, I will gently offer options to consider, with an understanding that it is so hard to make decisions. I am honoured to participate in recognition events supporting loss. In partnership with organizations in my community we recognize International Bereaved Mother's Day with a beautiful ceremony honouring mothers & their babies in spirit; Bereaved Parents Month brings community together for a Flower Mandala Ceremony; bereaved parents gather to learn about Remembrance Rituals for Infant & Pregnancy Loss Awareness Month; and Children's Grief Awareness Month honours the sorrow of children with a Children's Grief Ceremony.

Whether it's an online or in person setting, one of my passions is sharing the healing power of ceremony & ritual with community organizations; and in professional development settings. I use digital photography as a medium; inspired by visualizing bereaved families dreams and hopes; or crafting visual narratives of significant metaphysical occurrences that have happened following a baby-loss or pet loss.  When you visually integrate both life and death into a new inner visual landscape, it can assist with the healing journey. It is a way to honour the dreams families had, daydreams, story-like fantasies and the spiritual experiences of signs & symbols from their spirit baby or spirit animal companion. The hope is that the Visionscape photo is validating for families as there is a sacred connection to the one who crossed over; and joy occurs because the image increases the flow of life-energy.
