Bio
Haoqing Leo Liu, a year 11 student at the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School, studies piano with Glenn Riddle and harpsichord with David Macfarlane.
Leo has garnered multiple accolades, including 1st Prizes in the 2022 Steinway and PolMusicA Polish Music Competition, the Musical Society of Victoria’s Nehama Patkin and Hephzibah Menuhin Awards. He is also a Laureate of the Melbourne Recital Centre’s Bach Competition in 2023 and in 2024 Baroque Competition on harpsichord, last year’s winner of the 3MBS Talent, and this year’s 70th Ringwood Eisteddfod Grand Final Instrumental winner, most receintly, the winner of Australian Concerto Competition in Townsville.
In 2022, Leo completed his AMEB LMusA Piano Performance Diploma with Distinction. Last year he debuted in the Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 1 with orchestra and this year he performed Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy with choir, orchestra and soloists at the Melbourne Recital Centre.
