Bio
Haoqing Leo Liu graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts, where he studied piano with Glenn Riddle and harpsichord with David Macfarlane. Presently, he is studying with Prof. Paweł Zawadzki at the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław, Poland.
Leo has garnered multiple accolades, including 1st Prizes in the 2022 Steinway and PolMusicA Polish Music Competition, Musical Society of Victoria’s Nehama Patkin and Hephzibah Menuhin Awards. He is a Laureate of the 2023 Melbourne Recital Centre’s Bach Competition and 2024 Baroque Competition on harpsichord, winner of the 2023 3MBS radio Talent, the 2024 70th Ringwood Eisteddfod Grand Final Instrumental Award, and the Australian Concerto Competition.
In 2022, Leo completed his AMEB LMusA Piano Performance Diploma with Distinction. As a 16-year-old, he debuted in the Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 1, and a year later, performed Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy with a choir, orchestra and soloists at the Melbourne Recital Centre.
