The Outspoken Adoptee

Transracial private infant adoptee

Why the name Outspoken?
Growing up I was taught “children are seen not heard,” due to this ingrained belief system I didn’t see value in my own voice. This allowed for me to be put in horrible situations, because I felt as if I never would be heard, believed, or seen as an adoptee. Now I use my voice along with the voices of other adult adoptees, former foster youth, and those displaced by the child welfare system to advocate for change. We need a system that centers the needs of voiceless and vulnerable children over the needs of adults. Help us advocate for change by learning more about adoption reform and better alternatives that center children in crisis.
Support my work through Breast Cancer
A lot of emotional labor goes into doing this advocacy work against a society that infantilizes us as adults that don’t know what is best for ourselves. I was also recently diagnosed with breast cancer, and will need financial support to assist after my double mastectomy surgery as well as my follow up surgery scheduled for October I greatly appreciate any help as being an adoptee leaves us without many family support options. 💜
