Dark Sky Friends, a non-profit 501 c 4 organization, was created to advocate for strong local, state, regional, national and global protection from light trespass and light pollution. Enacting strong outdoor lighting ordinances and legislation and including the development of regional master lighting plans. Dark Sky Friends promotes the education of responsible outdoor lighting at night and raises awareness of the harmful impacts artificial lights are having on our lives and our shared environments. Dark Sky Friends supports DarkSky International, their work and works closely with DarkSky NOVA, the Northern Virginia Chapter of DarkSky International along with numerous other organizations concerned with the rapidly growing problem of light pollution.
