About Me
Augustine Lungu Jr is a filmmaker with African folklore rooted in his upbringing in Lusaka, Zambia. Inspired by his late father, who was a local thespian and film producer in the 90s to late 2000s, Augustine's journey in film began in the late 2010s, culminating in his debut short film 'Spiral Bound', which garnered numerous awards at local film festivals and a nomination in Rwanda. At age 29, notable projects include a feature film with A24/BBC titled 'On Becoming a Guinea Fowl,' on which Augustine worked as Second Assistant Director and which will bow in Un Certain Regard at Festival de Cannes 2024. With over 400 episodes and nearly seven years of experience in different roles in the local TV industry, Augustine's commitment to the craft led him to pursue a degree in Film Production at Open Window University, where he is currently in his second year of film school. Drawing from influences such as Rungano Nyoni. He is driven by a desire to elevate African voices through film.
