The lush guitars, ethereal melodies and shimmering distortion of In The Afterglow provides a sense of being immersed in warm, lingering light. In The Afterglow is the shoegaze and dreampop project of British-Canadian music producer Alfred Hermida. He has been making music for over two decades, mostly EDM tunes as UXB. But growing up to the soundtrack of My Bloody Valentine, Ride and Slowdive, shoegaze has always been his first love. As In The Afterglow, Hermida is exploring the interplay between AI and human creativity. The song creation process incorporates Udio Beta, a cutting-edge AI music tool. Hermida provides thematic direction, opening lyrics, mood descriptors, and stylistic cues which Udio Beta analyzes to generate initial elements of a track. He then fine-tunes the drafts by adjusting instrumentation, dynamics, tempo, and other musical elements to develop a finished track. While Udio Beta is a valuable tool, it serves as an aid rather than a replacement for human creativity.
