Jacob Hyman Drums

DRUMMER. VOCALIST. MULT-INSTRUMENTALIST.
Music is a lifetime endeavor for me. I started early: opera singing at age 3 & choral singing ever since; piano lessons at age 7; and bass & guitar as a teenager. But it wasn’t until my first drum lesson in March of 1998 that I felt a natural, intuitive connection to an instrument. Ever since, I've been learning & growing in as many different styles as possible. I trained in jazz, funk, & rock drumming at the NJ School of Drums and Percussion & NJ HS for the Arts before moving on to study under Alejandro Lucini in Latin/jazz at The George Washington University.
I played in countless bands across virtually every possible genre in NY & CO between 2003-2019. My primary project was an orchestral-pop band called Freelance Whales. Between 2009-2014, we played hundreds of shows & festivals in the US, Europe, & Canada. We released our debut, "Weathervanes," was released in 2010, & our sophomore album, "Diluvia," was released in 2012.
I currently play, live, & work in Denver, CO.
