About Me
Brooklynite, Octavia's professional screenwriting journey began with the success of her viral voice-acted animated series, Uneducated. Clahar wrote this series shortly after completing her degree from CUNY, Brooklyn College, in 2016, loosely basing the premise of the work on her own life experiences. Reaching over 1.2 million YouTube views for the series finale, Octavia not only wrote but also produced Uneducated as a live-action pilot after deciding to expand on the story, recreating it as a Brooklyn-based series. The project crowdfunded and screened to a sold-out auditorium at Brooklyn Public Library in 2019. Since then, Octavia has worked on indie films while building a portfolio of pilots, including a revision of Uneducated and the Fantasy Grains of Time on Coverfly's Red List for Half-hour Fantasy.
Clahar, a highly recognized talent, is a 10-ten-time finalist for various prestigious screenwriting competitions, and a second-rounder for Black Boy/Girl Writes in 2022.
Octavia tells stories ranging from Brooklyn-based dramedies to animated fantasy with leading BIPOC characters. In February 2023, she became a board member of Bobby Moresco's Actor's Gym Workshop at the AMT Theater on Broadway. Here, she works on developing screenplays, including the spec for her first animated feature, "Siblings of the Seasons." In May 2024, she served as an Artist in Residence at La Porte Peinte in Noyers, Burgundy, France, where she completed the script.
