COME TRAIN WITH ME!
I am a personal trainer offering 50-minute guided workouts at The Program gym in Chinatown. Training sessions may also be offered in a nearby park, if preferred. Whether you're new to fitness or looking to elevate your routine, I’ll tailor each session to your goals and abilities, ensuring a safe, effective, and enjoyable experience.
About me
Born in France, raised in Houston, and now based in Vancouver, I bring a global perspective and diverse experience to personal training. As a former Japanese translator and futures trader, I blend analytical skills, cultural understanding, and resilience into my approach.
Primeval Fitness?
What does Primeval Fitness mean? I chose this name because I draw inspiration from British Columbia's ancient primeval forests. I reflect this in my training style by offering unique outdoor workouts that connect you with nature while building strength and resilience.
My training philosophy in a nutshell
Prioritizing health-first fitness for all ages, I empower clients to build strength, confidence, and sustainable habits. In a world where Instagram influencers often skew perceptions of fitness with unrealistic, flashy portrayals of 'perfection,' I focus on real people and their individual journeys. I reject the social media culture that fuels body dysmorphia by commodification of superficial norms of beauty, leading to a culture of comparison, insecurity, and dissatisfaction. I choose instead to celebrate authenticity, diversity, and self-worth beyond aesthetics. I aim to foster authentic self-valuation, where progress is only measured against oneself. I specialize in helping those intimidated by fitness, creating inclusive, judgment-free spaces that inspire meaningful change.
Empowering Clients to Overcome Anxiety
As a personal trainer who lives with social anxiety, I deeply understand how intimidating the gym environment can feel. The overwhelming noise, unfamiliar equipment, and the fear of judgment can make stepping into a fitness space a daunting task. That’s why I’m passionate about creating a supportive and welcoming environment for individuals who share these feelings. I want to help you build confidence, not just in the gym, but in yourself, by tailoring workouts that suit your comfort level and goals. Together, we can take small, manageable steps toward making fitness an empowering and enjoyable part of your life.
A Passion for Health and Wellness Over 40
My personal fitness journey has been deeply transformative. As someone over 40 who has experienced his share of age-related health problems, I understand firsthand the importance of prioritizing health and wellness as we age. Maintaining an active lifestyle has been essential for my physical and mental well-being, and it’s a cornerstone of my philosophy as a trainer. I believe that fitness isn’t just about looking good; it’s about feeling strong, capable, and confident in your body at any stage of life.
Supporting Clients of All Ages and Stages
Supporting individuals across the lifespan is one of the most rewarding aspects of my work. From young adults building healthy foundations to seniors maintaining mobility, I believe fitness is for everyone and should enhance daily life. I also specialize in helping those new to exercise or returning after a break, ensuring the experience feels approachable and enjoyable. By celebrating small wins and focusing on progress over perfection, I help clients build confidence and lasting momentum.
Internationally Minded, Locally Grounded
Having lived and worked in different parts of the world, I bring an international perspective to my work. I’ve seen how cultural attitudes toward health, fitness, and aging vary, and I draw on this understanding to connect with clients from diverse backgrounds. In Vancouver, I’m inspired by the city’s natural beauty and active lifestyle, and I strive to incorporate elements of the local environment into my training sessions—whether it’s a workout in the park, a hike, or simply encouraging clients to spend more time outdoors.
From Multilingual Communicator to Fitness Advocate
Before becoming a personal trainer, I built a career as a Japanese translator and futures trader, honing analytical, communicative, and empathetic skills. As a translator, I learned to bridge cultural gaps and meet people where they are, a principle I bring to my clients. In futures trading, I developed discipline, focus, and resilience, gaining a deep appreciation for mental and physical health amidst high-pressure demands.
Looking Ahead
My mission as a personal trainer is to help each person I work with feel stronger, healthier, and more confident in their ability to lead an active, fulfilling life. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to take your fitness to the next level, I’m here to support you every step of the way.
